Meat Sweats!?!?

While it doesn’t fit with our Worldbuilding Theme at all… We just launched Meat Sweats the Game on Kickstarter. It funded in 16 hours, and we’re hoping to unlock stretch goals now. Please consider checking it out here (click the little “K” in the corner for the link):

Argilkin: Worldbuilders – Phellos

Phelos

Traveling through space, an Argilkin finds a planet that is almost perfect for filling with life.  The Argilkin terraforms the land, sea, and air with Its innate power.  Then, with the right mixture of elements and a sliver of consciousness, It breathes life into one of the most ancient creator races, the Phellos.

Phellos are a perfect blend of plant, animal, and fungi. This inherent balance between all living things gives them unique insight into the creation of biomes and symbiosis between all living things and their environments.  They spend millenia on a planet slowly crafting balance and harmony.  They are truly engines of creation.  Although immortal, Phellos do grow old and tired; it is then that they make the decision to become ancient, sentient forests themselves.

GenCon Recovery Mode

Well, we made it through GenCon 2018 spending over 8 hours playtesting three of our prototype games.  We met great people, saw some great new games, and left with a clear direction for the future of the company.  Two of our three prototype games received extremely positive feedback – enough that we got really excited about it.  Argilkin: Worldbuilders and Meat Sweats are both extremely solid and enjoyable games.

Meat Sweats got a little loud (like any good party game should), and by our 3rd play we were asked to move or quiet down.  We received ZERO negative feedback on Meat Sweats… We still finalized a couple little changes we wanted to try and everything went well. We are extremely satisfied with how this game plays.

Argilkin: Worldbuilders is a rock-solid, 2-player card and dice game that we were able to clean up and finalize a couple loose ends on end game condition.  We had some excellent feedback on that one that locked the game up nice.  The art is amazing, the gameplay is solid and unique, and each game clocks in at a quick 15 minutes.

Trapped! Bermuda Triangle, our cooperative memory game, needs some tweaking. Although feedback was mostly positive, it is clear the game is missing “something”. We’re going to dissect and rebuild that one when we’re done working on the first two winners.  We are still sold on the group memory mechanic and will continue exploring the concept.

Thanks to all our playtesters!

Argilkin: Worldbuilders – Humans

HumansAlthough we’re introducing new races created for our Argilkin universe, a few are familiar enough they don’t truly need introductions other than to show off some incredible new artwork. The humans of the Argilkin universe are like us in many ways.  They value family, ingenuity, and technology.  Unlike us, these humans may learn to control the elemental magic of air.

Argilkin: Worldbuilders Artwork Wrap up

Lane Brown Self PortraitWe’ve had a great experience working with Lane Brown as a concept artist.  He’s done a tremendous job breathing life into the fantasy world that used to exist only in our heads.  Huge, public thank you to Lane for his hard work and squeezing us into his busy schedule!  We now have 10 unique fantasy races to share over the next month.

You can check out his artwork as we reveal it each week leading up to GenCon 2018 on our site here, Instagram, and/or Facebook.

So far so good!

Finalist in The Game Crafter Escape Room ChallangeWe have been awarded the “Contest Finalist” commendation from The Game Crafter for our submission of Trapped! Bermuda Triangle.

There are 5 finalists and we will find out more after the judges have had a chance to play and rate each of the games.

We’ve been in the lab!

It’s been quite awhile since our last post, we’ve been busy brainstorming, developing, prototyping, testing, revising and having a blast!  We’ve officially registered Earthfire Games to demo a few of our games at Gen Con 2018 as part of the First Exposure Playtest Hall!  More details to come as we establish our plan for “The Best Four Days in Gaming”.
